I notified my insurance, Allianz, as is always advised, this time last year of an accident a few days earlier where a person had driven across the continuos white line on a bend in the the road into my car. They told me that I could get the repair done by Allianz for speed, and that as long as the other accepted liability, and paid Allianz for the repair before my next premium was due it would not affect my quote. However if they were not paid by then it would affect my premium.
I did not use Allianz as the other person's insurance co Liberty accepted full liability 2 days after the accident from the photographs supplied, and paid Ashmore Ryder for the repair.
I got a request from Allianz later in the year to confirm that my claim had been settled by the other party's insurance co, and I had my full no claims cert issued last month for my renewal. My premium had gone up from €2400 to €2900. They did not give any reason for the increase or mention anything on the notice about a previous "not my fault" accident, but now I am wondering was I also penalised for advising them of an accident in which I was 100% the innocent party.
