Statistics from the NTSB:
You're more likely to die in a cab on the way to the Airport, than on on Aircraft.
The truth is, up in the air, all the people are Professionals.

Autopilot does most of the flying. In fact, they only manually take off and land to give co-pilots experience these days. It seems crazy that humans are still required not drive cars.
If it doesn't have a roof sign and door stickers it's not a taxi.

Too many pilots can’t handle an emergency  (Daily Telegraph, 2014)
Modern pilots have lost the natural ability to fly planes because of automation.  When something does go wrong and the autopilot hands control of the plane back to them, they often struggle to do the right thing.

Imagine the same happening in a car doing 120km/hr down the M50, surrounded by dozens of other cars.  It would be chaotic and deadly ( and not deadly in a good way)!
Getting old is compulsory whilst growing up is voluntary.

Most Pilots are very well trained.
Passengers like the idea of a human up front.
Take off and landings can be done on Autopilot, but the Captain has the final say.
Remember, it's always been cheaper to blame the Pilot.  8)

Stick a few roundabouts and pelican crossing in the sky and see how the autopilots fare.

On the ground tests to date are extremely positive with very few road deaths caused by autonomous vehicles. In the fullness of time there's no reason that it can't be as safe to travel by car as by airplane.
If it doesn't have a roof sign and door stickers it's not a taxi.

Rang allienz a fwew weeks ago for a quote. They would not quote me then, saying even though I was involved in an accident that was not my fault, it was still a claim, and therefore they could not quote me. Tried them again this morning, explaining my case to them and that I had a letter from the MIBI  saying my insurer incurred no expense, they quoted me this morning.the way they do it is, like ali carte you choose what you want like windscreen cover, breakdown assistance, bonus cover or step back, etcetc I got a quote for 1823 full comp ,wirh step back  I could get 1720 for no stepback .I doubt BJP will match this in a couple of weeks

That brilliant news Dalymount. A victory for the little man.
I'd still prefer the 600 from years ago though.
Good luck.

Not such good news at all im afraid.while allianz quoted me 1823 euro, when they heard that I was involved in a hit,and run in 2015 in I WAS THE INJURED PARTY, they withdrew the quote.I explained to them, that kennco,(my then insurers,) reinstated my full bonus upon Garda investigation, and the claim was settled, and cosed bythe MIBI ,they were still not interested

Have you that in writing? Ask them for it if you have not..and then go your local T.D. Joe Duffy's phones are too busy but shout it out loud...if you can.
