Well done, but if the focus is primarily on weight loss, as opposed to general fitness, diet is more effective apparently. The arbitrary 80/% diet 20% exercise for weight loss. The exercise builds muscle also.
In my experience the 20% is key! I was only saying to the 'erm the other week, a couple of years ago (my first attempt to lose weight) I made significant dietary changes, cutting visits to chippers/Chinese takeaways/McDonalds from my working routine and replacing my then daily cooked breakfast with a bowl of muesli. Despite sticking to that I didn't experience any significant weight loss, staying around 18 stone. It's only when I exercised regularly that I started losing weight, maybe it's a different ratio when you're carrying a lot of excess? Anywaysanall, I reckon my fitness has improved too (but still a long way to go) - I used to be sweating and panting like Jimmy Saville in a playground after 30 mins on the exercise bike, now I still work up a sweat but don't get out of breath. On the food front, I still have room for improvement... I'm trying to cut out the habit of stopping in the kitchen for a couple of sandwiches on the way to bed.
