Any renter worth his salt will arrange all that, Vik. Sure I know lads renting plates who don't even live in the country, no way they are present every time the driver changes and they don't have any dealings with insurance companies. All they have to do is pass on the VRC when they receive it from Shannon. In practice the renter has a fleet policy, the rest is just paperwork i.e. the insurance company produce a certificate in the name of the owner with the driver named and the owner specifically excluded from driving.
If it doesn't have a roof sign and door stickers it's not a taxi.

Renter fleet policy wouldn’t cover your plate if you were to take up minding the grandbabies when they come along and decide to rent out your plate.

Correct, the renter is the “middle man” in this situation nothing is on paper with regard to the renter, the insurance is in the name of the plate holder and the car is also, any insurance claim payouts will be to the plate holder.

The renter is the one doing the leg work in a situation like this, the Licence holder would have to make one phone call a year to book in his/her LRA and collect his/her €25 a week.

did your coolant bottle degrade and the hoses crumble and leak fluid like a sieve.
that's standard on an Octavia.

I'd say you're nuts taxiing a Renault but I guess you might as well wreck shite as a decent motor!

I have that on my 2007 Octavia!  Levels are ok for 3 or 4 days then half it disappears overnight!

I used to think the same but the 24hr.mechanic crowd (PSV.ie?) on Tolka Valley Rd have a load of Renaults rented out.  But they are moving over to Priusssssss, I think.

If you got 3 yrs out of a e6,000 Fluence, that's approx e40/wk over 3 years (with maintenance on top of that).  You'd probably pay double that for a similar year Prius (excl maintenance), I reckon?
Getting old is compulsory whilst growing up is voluntary.

working out about a tenner a day to own the car probably a tenner a day for fuel ie 70 a week seven yoyo a day  insurance two notes a week road tax .throw in maintainance .so the cost is about 30 notes a day to be a taxi driver still costs a score a day to park it outside the gaff or bookies .Life expectancy of a taxi before it starts costing Gold Coin to keep on the road is about 5 years .3 years civilian driving is equal to one year taxi driving .If you can get a 3 year old motor for under 10K and get 4 or 5 years low maintainance driving out of it thats probably as good as it gets .
