Swine Flu again,Again
« on: January 20, 2020, 09:06:50 am »
History has a habit of repeating itself 100 years ago the Hong Kong Flu killed more people than WW1 now we are seeing this from China ..China has reported 139 new cases of a mysterious virus in two days, with the outbreak spreading from Wuhan to other major Chinese cities.

Beijing, the capital, reported two cases, while the southern tech hub of Shenzhen reported one case.

The total number of confirmed cases now exceeds 200, and three have died from the respiratory illness.

The sharp uptick in those infected comes as millions of Chinese prepare to travel for the Lunar New Year holidays.

Health officials have identified the infection, which first appeared in Wuhan in December, as being a strain of coronavirus. They say it led to an outbreak of viral pneumonia, but much about it remains unknown.

Although the outbreak is believed to have originated from a market, officials and scientists are yet to determine exactly how it has been spreading.

South Korea reported its first confirmed case of the virus on Monday, following two in Thailand and one in Japan.

The outbreak has revived memories of the Sars virus - also a coronavirus - that killed 774 people in the early 2000s across dozens of countries, mostly in Asia.

Analysis of the genetic code of the new virus shows it is more closely related to Sars than any other human coronavirus.

Make you wonder if some military are trying to develope Flu as a Military weapon .?

There's a few on here that must have had that jab so.

And a few who thought they didn't really need that extra push too.

You ain't seen nothing yet.  Wait until the polar icecaps melt and release all those dormant nasty bugs!

I think there's already been 1 or 2 outbreaks of anthrax in Russia as the ice melted and the long-dead & buried reindeer thawed out and released the bugs.

A blonde and her husband were going to fill up their gas tank before going out to dinner.

The blond says 'im afraid to go in because of the swine flu' .

Her husband replied "you dumb b**ch, the swine flu is in Mexico not TEXACO!"

He who fears he will suffer, already suffers because he fears.

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2012/mar/28/history-major-flu-pandemics .

Annual flu epidemics kill 250,000-500,000 people each year and cause severe illness in 3 million to 5 million. But new strains that jump from animals to humans can be even more devastating if the global population has no immunity to the virus.

• 1918 "Spanish flu"

The most devastating flu pandemic in recent history was caused by a strain of H1N1 influenza that killed 20 million to 50 million people worldwide. The pandemic spread in three more or less simultaneous waves through Europe, Asia and North America. Unusually, the virus was particularly lethal in young adults. The origins of the virus are still unknown.

•1957-58 "Asian flu"

First identified in China, this H2N2 virus caused roughly 2 million deaths worldwide. The virus is thought to have emerged after a human form of H2N2 combined with a mutant strain in ducks. The strain has not circulated in humans since 1968, so much of the global population has no immunity to the strain. Most of those who died were elderly.

• 1968-69 "Hong Kong flu"

The pandemic was first detected in Hong Kong. The H3N2 virus killed around 1 million people globally, with those over 65 most vulnerable. H3N2 viruses still circulate today.

• 1997 "Bird flu"

For the first time, an influenza virus was found to spread directly from birds to people. The H5N1 bird flu infections were linked to poultry markets. The first outbreak in Hong Kong killed six of 18 people infected. The World Health Organisation has recorded 598 cases since 2003, with 352 deaths. Most deaths from bird flu are in Egypt, Indonesia and Vietnam and China. So far, the virus has not adapted to spread easily between humans.

• 2009 "Swine flu"

One of the new strains was the H1N1 "swine flu" virus that originated in Mexico in 2009. The virus, a combination of a Eurasian swine flu virus with another strain that was itself a mix of bird, swine and human flu virus. The strain went on to kill more than 18,000 people around the world.

Lots wearing face-masks at airport. Seems relaxed enough though.
