Remember Ken slagging off some Cork driver's new Corrolla saying if he was really doing well for himself he would have afforded an Avensis..Now Ken wants a Corolla (saloon prius) and wants some adivice .A good memory pays off sometimes.:-)

I would much rather an Avensis, but it is discontinued this year and my choices if I stay with Toyota are Corolla or Camry
and if I was to drive a new Camry then most likely I wouldn't make a bean because I wouldn't let anyone in to it !
Or I could change manufacturer, but that just ain't gonna happen !

The Camry isn't really that fancy but it isnt cheap. All them extra buttons will be blank unless you spend an extra 4k.They have made the mistake of pricing it too high at 39k for a car with cloth seats. Can't see it being very popular at that price, even with taxi drivers.

By the way the base Camry in the US is $28000....big difference. We're getting robbed.

They had a plug in Prius in the showroom....there's only two seats in the back, the rear passenger centre armrest/console is a permanent fixture(it can't be pushed back up and become part of the back support)...so only 3 passengers...me hole, the NTA would want to be subsidising any would be owners on a continuous basis...think of all them euros lost!!

That Prius Prime yoke looks very similar to the new Corrolla from the front.

I think there's a Kia Niro Hybrid working from thr Airport if yer looking for choice.Might be worth a look. They also do a plug in version.

Toyota had the luvvies in mind when marketing the Prius..they never wanted bousies driving them with ghetto monkeys in the back.

Belker, far more comfortable and interesting cars out there plus the reliability thing is a legacy thing with Toyota. You only live once.

The opel insignia, Peugeot 508sw, Volvo v60 and v70, Audi A5, Passat, mondeo, Skoda superb and what I'm driving Citroen c5 2ltr hdi 197,000 miles with hydromantic suspension its my second one previous one 2003 which I still have with 637,000 miles, all those cars are interesting, comfortable and reliable and nice to drive, cannot get the obsession with Toyota with lot of taxi drivers, a uninspiring, boring uncomfortable horse box of a car the avensis and corolla to spend up to 8 to 12 hour days in, I had one Toyota never again I used to be stiff getting out of it after a shift. my next taxi will be a pick of list above a used one. Ya need a bit comfort and driving enjoyment in this job.

Ah I take your point but the car isn't part of me.It's a work vehicle.Toyotas are less likely to breakdown. They're number one on all reliability surveys with Lexus usually number two.French or German makers just dont cut it.

Taxi driving is definitely the most boring job I've ever had. I spend me day moving between red lights usually slower than 50kmh in traffic. A nicer car won't make that any better.French cars have shite reputations, whether they still deserve them or not I can't be sure.My oulfella fixed a lot of French cars when I was a kid and he despised them.Audis are known for higher maintenance costs due to the way they're engineered not to be worked on easily by DIYers.VAG group use torx screws on way too many bits to keep the Youtube fixers away.Whats wrong with a normal bolt?

A lot of us are former couriers and would swear by Japanese motorcycles for reliability. So sticking with the Jap cars seems sensible.Boring job, boring car. When I get out of it I don't care for it or think about it afterwards.

You should PM John for some tips.
He knows when to work, all the places where the work is.
He’s always busy.
If he can make a few bob on 20 hours a week imagine what you could make on 39 hours in the week
